History of Palmer Lake
Palmer Lake was critical to the railroad because the steam trains chugged up to the Palmer-Divide summit and had to take on water to head back down. The lake was the only natural water supply available on a year-round basis.
Police - Town of Palmer Lake
The Palmer Lake Police Department currently has six full time police officers. The department is also supported by part-time and reserve officers and provides the Town of Palmer Lake coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
