Two Middle Tennessee school districts and one private school have announced closures ranging from one day to the rest of the week due to widespread illness. Houston County Schools announced on social media Tuesday it was closing for the remainder of the week starting Wednesday.

Schools closed due to illness comes as Tennessee ranks #4 in the U.S. for flu activity, according to data from Walgreens. Adding to these concerns, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) h as also flagged Tennessee as one of the states experiencing high flu activity.
