Jai Lucas and Miami have finalized the contract that makes him the school’s new men’s basketball coach, nearly two weeks after they struck preliminary agreement on a deal, a person with knowledge of the talks said Wednesday.

Jai Lucas, currently the associate head coach at Duke, has reportedly been hired as the next head coach at Miami.

After rising the ranks as an assistant, Houston native Jai Lucas will have his first chance to be a college basketball head coach. The University of Miami announced Thursday that Lucas will be taking over the program,
