Civil servants, officials, and outside groups are challenging Trump’s frenzied orders to slash federal agencies and headcounts, often denouncing them as illegal.

President Donald Trump’s administration has accepted over 50,000 federal employee resignations under a deferred resignation plan, a person familiar with the effort said. The Office of Personnel Management directed agencies to compile lists of underperforming employees by March 7th for potential termination.
