The Texas Longhorns lost one of their top assistants this week when now-former safeties coach Blake Gideon accepted the defensive coordinator position with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. On Friday, Gideon officially said goodbye to the Longhorns coaching staff and his former players, sending and emotional message on X.

Former Texas safeties coach Blake Gideon, who will take the defensive coordinator role at Georgia Tech, said his thank yous and goodbyes to the Longhorn football program and its fans on social media on Friday.

Gideon returned to the Longhorns in a coaching capacity in 2021, following previous stops at Ole Miss, Houston and other universities.
