(CBS DETROIT) — An arctic air mass will impact all of southeast Michigan through Wednesday as the coldest temperatures of the winter so far arrive this week. A cold weather advisory is in effect through Wednesday for all of the region.

After a storm dumped between 4 to 6 inches of snow on most of Massachusetts Sunday night, residents of the Bay State should prepare for frigid temperatures fueled by an arctic airmass and high winds.

It was a cold day across the region today with many places north of I-40 not making it above freezing. Temperatures will drop significantly overnight once again with the entire region below freezing,

In the wake of a snowstorm that dumped up to 8 inches across Massachusetts, the Bay State is preparing for a blast of arctic air that will bring wind chills at or below zero for much of the state. The snowfall from Sunday’s storm had largely stopped by 7 a.
