The United States government has announced new sanctions on seven high-ranking members of Yemen’s Houthi movement. These individuals, according to the U.S. Treasury Department, were involved in smuggling military equipment and negotiating arms deals with Russia.

The United States on Wednesday issued sanctions on seven senior members of Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement. The Treasury Department said this in a statement, adding that the individuals smuggled military-grade items and weapon systems into Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and negotiated buying weapons from Russia.
