Thomas Irwin, 73, of Indianapolis, was last seen on Jan. 15, 2024, while hiking the Petroglyph Point Train in the national park located in southwestern Colorado. His family contacted the park the next day, and a search and rescue operation began, the National Park Service said in a news release on Monday.

Jordan Marsters, a 31 year-old man from Denver, was last seen in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park on Feb. 13 at about 7:20 a.m., according to the National Park Service.

Authorities on Tuesday announced that the remains of 73-year-old hiker Thomas Irwin were located during an off-trail grid search at Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado following an exhaustive search and rescue operation that began more than a year ago.
