Lorenzo Sonego ended the dream run of another teenager at the Australian Open as the unseeded Italian beat qualifier Learner Tien 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-1 and reached the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time on Monday.

Since 1988, when the Australian Open moved to Melbourne Park, Shelton is just the second left-handed player to reach the semi-finals of both hard court grand slams, after the great Rafael Nadal. He is also the youngest left-handed player to reach the Australian Open semi-finals since Nadal back in 2008.

Lorenzo Sonego will be Ben Shelton's quarterfinal opponent in Australian Open 2025. The two will lock horns for the third out, with their head-to-head currently tied at 1-1.
