Conan O'Brien kept the jokes flowing during his opening monologue, poking fun at A-list celebrities while reminding viewers what the Oscars are about.

Conan O'Brien kicked off the 2025 Oscars by calling out best actress nominee Karla Sofía Gascón in his opening monologue. " [Best picture nominee] 'Anora' uses the f-word 479 times -- that's three more than the record set by Karla Sofía Gascón's publicist," O'Brien joked.

The comedian joked about the length of “The Brutalist” and the “Emilia Pérez” actress Karla Sofia Gascón’s offensive social media posts.

The teens were identified as 17-year-old Yeferson A. Flores Ramos of Hoffman Estates and Litzy Flores, 16, of Carpentersville, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Their deaths were ruled accidental as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning from the car exhaust.

As an Oscars host, O’Brien follows Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted in both 2023 and 2024 – as well as in 2018 and 2017 – Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes, who co-hosted together in 2022, two years in a row (2020 and 2021) when the ceremony had no host, and Chris Rock, who hosted in 2016.

The Oscar ceremony had its flaws, as usual, but the humor was surprisingly good thanks largely to host Conan O'Brien.
