Billionaire Elon Musk recently agreed with a proposal to conduct mandatory drug testing of federal employees, but contrary to misleading social media posts, no official U.S. government announcement has been issued asking workers to pass a drug test within 30 days or face termination.

There is no credible evidence of any such announcement. An official from a drug-testing group said her organization is unaware of it.

Elon Musk told federal workers Monday evening that they had "another chance" to justify their work or lose their jobs. The original deadline passed later on Monday.
