A trade request, lack of playing time and a foiled relationship with the Kings led Arthur Kaliyev right to the Rangers.
The New York Rangers claimed forward Arthur Kaliyev off waivers Monday from the Los Angeles Kings. The 23-year-old wing has not played in the NHL this season after recovering from a broken clavicle suffered in training camp. He played five AHL games as part of a conditioning stint in December but didn’t appear for the Kings before going on waivers.

Before joining the New York Rangers, Arthur Kaliyev had not played in an NHL game since April of 2023. During training camp with the Los Angeles Kings before the start of this season, Kaliyev suffered a fractured clavicle, which sidelined him for multiple weeks.
The Rangers turned to the waiver wire to pad their lost forward depth. Arthur Kaliyev was claimed by the Blueshirts on Monday, after the 23-year-old wing was waived by the organization that drafted him 33rd overall in 2019, the Los Angeles Kings.
