Both Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad, the two longest-tenured players on the roster, have been involved in trade rumors for the better part of this season. What could Drury get in return for them? A player that can accelerate them now or go after draft capital.

It’s no secret at this point that the Vancouver Canucks are listening to trade offers on J.T. Miller. There is a reported rift between Miller and fellow Canucks star Elias Pettersson, and it seems as if a boiling point has been reached.

But there is more noise on the horizon and, if the Rangers allow it, there will be more distractions which this team will have to navigate. It won’t be unique to the Blueshirts in advance of the March 7 trade deadline but the chatter has already — and only — just begun.

The Rangers, who began the season as projected Stanley Cup contenders, took a steep slide in November through the end of 2024 and are now unlikely to even make the playoffs. New York is 20-20-2 and sits four points outside of a playoff spot with 40 games remaining.
