Elon Musk’s SpaceX is pushing the US to address the trade barriers faced by Starlink’s satellite communication service in foreign countries. The company argues that its competitors from foreign countries have no such import restrictions in the United States.

Starlink operates in more than 120 markets worldwide, though in some countries, SpaceX must coordinate spectrum sharing with domestic satellite operators before activating service. The company described the requirements as a "protectionist non-tariff trade barrier,

SpaceX and Tesla — have submitted letters lobbying the U.S. trade representative on Trump administration tariff policies. The letters come as Musk oversees an effort to slash federal government spending and employee headcount at the behest of President Donald Trump.
