The Sabres' Tage Thompson left Sunday's game after taking an elbow to the face from the Devils' Stefan Noesen, who received a game misconduct penalty.

Tage Thompson, JJ Peterka and Ryan McLeod scored unanswered goals in the first period Sunday afternoon for the host Buffalo Sabres, who fended off a third-period comeback by the New Jersey Devils to earn a 4-3 win.

The Sabres didn't instigate anything following Stefan Noesen's high hit to Tage Thompson's head but ultimately defeated the Devils 4-3.
