Texas has fluctuated from blizzard conditions to beach weather over the last two weeks, and the pendulum of extremes is set to swing again for parts of the state thanks to an encroaching cold front primed to pass through this weekend.

Thursday will be another tricky day with the temperature forecast. A front will work its way through part of North Texas before stalling out, and it will be the difference maker between temperatures in the upper 60s versus temperatures near 80°.

A tale of two air masses is unfolding in North Texas. You will remain on the cool side if you reside north of the front through Friday. Conversely, living south of the front, you can expect temperatures in the 70s to low 80s.

Storm Enzo dumped inches of snow on Southeast Texas in January. Now a new system heading for the Panhandle could bring more wintry precipitation to the state next week. National Weather Service (NWS) forecasters are tracking a cold front expected to shift into the state on Saturday and potentially combine with an encroaching cold air mass to bring snow to areas near and north of Amarillo by Sunday night or Monday morning.
