The police custody of former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte upon an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against him has again exposed the growing rift between two of the country's most influential political dynasties, analysts said.

Duterte was taken into custody by the ICC on Wednesday following his arrest in Manila on murder charges linked to his "war on drugs" in which thousands of purported dealers and users were killed.
