New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat in the opening game of the tri-nation series against Pakistan at a newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium.

The ODI tri-series format is all set to make a comeback as Pakistan welcome New Zealand and South Africa to their shores in what is seen as a dress rehersal before the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The matches will be played in the revamped stadiums in Karachi and Lahore.

LAHORE: The tri-nation ODI series involving hosts Pakistan, along with New Zealand and South Africa will be played from February 8 to 14 at the newly constructed Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

As hosts Pakistan begin their preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, they take on New Zealand in the 1st ODI of the tri-series tournament which also includes South Africa. The match will be played at the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Pakistan heads to the series on the back of a 3-0 sweep against South Africa in South Africa. It had beaten Australia 2-1 Down Under before that. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s last ODI series was at home against Sri Lanka, which it won 2-1.

New Zealand, who had their first training session at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground on Thursday evening, will look to make a winning start in the tournament. South Africa under Temba Bavuma arrived in Lahore in the wee hours of Friday and will undergo their first training session on Saturday.
