The Education Department accused the university of failing to report large foreign donations to the government, as required by law. Harvard disputed the claim.

The Trump administration earlier this week froze $2.26 billion in federal funding for the school and threatened to revoke Harvard’s tax exempt status.

The administration has been concerned about foreign actors attempting to spy on researchers or spread propaganda within academic institutions.
