Officials have determined the shooting incident that left two dead at a senior living community in Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday was a murder-suicide.

Police believe that both parties involved in the shooting are deceased and there is no threat to public safety at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

Several departments battled fires at two buildings next to each other in Sault Ste. Marie. The call came in around 6pm Wednesday. According to witnesses, a building housing five apartments on the corner of Helen St. and Leroy St. caught fire first, then caught the house next door on fire.

Several people were left seeking shelter on Wednesday night after a structure fire near downtown Sault Ste. Marie damaged an apartment building and rental property.

An investigation is ongoing, but Sault. Ste. Marie police say there is no threat to the public after two people were killed in a shooting at an apartment complex. Police say the deceased are the two people involved in the shooting,
