Australia spinner Nathan Lyon passes 550 Test wickets as he helps his side close in on victory in the second Test in Sri Lanka.

Coincidentally, Lyon started his Test career with a game against Sri Lanka in the same Galle stadium in 2011. He reached the milestone of 550 wickets in his 136th game and become one among other two legends of Australian cricket, Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, to do so. While Warne ended his career with 708 wickets, McGrath picked 563 wickets.

Lyon completed the landmark with his first wicket in the third innings. He dismissed three batters in his first outing. Notably, he became the third Aussie and seventh bowler overall to complete 550 Test scalps. Lyon has been the lead spinner of Australia's Test team since his debut in the format in 2011.
