President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he plans to pardon the late baseball all-time hit king Pete Rose “in the coming weeks,” while Major League Baseball is considering a petition to posthumously remove the Cincinnati Reds icon from the sport’s ineligible list.

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred is considering a request to reinstate Pete Rose from the family of the league’s all-time hit leader, ESPN reported Saturday. Rose, who died in September at age 83,

Rose, who died last year at 83, was banned from baseball for life. He admitted in 2004 that he had bet on games, though never against his own team.
