The president of Formula 1's governing body FIA has signaled he'll make “improvements” to punishments for swearing and criticism which have sparked a backlash from F1 drivers.

The FIA's president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, said F1's governing body was thinking about "improvements" to current rules that prohibit swearing.

In January, the FIA updated its International Sporting Code to include an updated appendix for the penalties that stewards should award for various breaches including “any misconduct,” with sanctions ranging from fines to race suspensions and points deductions.
