CHICAGO (CBS) -- Endeavor Health, a network of hospitals and medical clinics in the Chicago area, is shutting down inpatient psychiatric care later this year at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Endeavor Health is laying off 100 employees at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights as it eliminates inpatient psychiatric services.

Endeavor Health will lay off approximately 100 people and “discontinue inpatient psychiatric services” at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, according to company spokesman, citing “significant cost pressures” and other changes that have required the health system to “think differently” about how it uses talent and resources.

The hospital group could cut up to 100 positions after agreeing to pay out a $453 million sex abuse settlement last year.

Endeavor Health, the third-largest hospital operator in the Chicago area, is considering layoffs and other personnel changes as it contends with budget constraints and industry headwinds, Crain’s has learned.
