Elon Musk has never been shy about his opinions, and Social Security is no exception. During a recent appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the billionaire CEO once again called the program “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time.

Elon Musk called Social Security a “Ponzi Scheme” in a discussion with podcaster Joe Rogan that was released online Friday. And it’s just the latest rhetorical assault by a member of the Trump regime on America’s social safety net as Musk continues to lay off thousands of federal workers and illegally stop payments at several government agencies.

It’s one thing for Musk to peddle bogus claims about imagined Social Security “fraud.” It’s something else when he targets the system itself.

Right-wing billionaires have long wanted to shred the safety net. Under Trump, they’re using lies and fears over the deficit to debilitate Social Security.
