A man who climbed up Big Ben's Elizabeth Tower carrying a Palestinian flag has been brought down after more than 16 hours. The barefoot man had made his way on to a ledge several metres up the tower at the Palace of Westminster on Saturday morning. He had been heard telling negotiators he would come down on his "own terms".

A man waving a Palestinian flag climbed the Big Ben tower at London's Palace of Westminster early on Saturday, with local media reporting he shouted "free Palestine". A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said they were alerted to the incident at Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) at 0724 GMT.

A man has been charged with tresspassing after climbing Elizabeth Tower housing Big Ben. Footage was widely shared online of the individual perched on the Palace of Westminster on Saturday.
