Are dogs on leads allowed in the grounds?

DOG POLICY AT HISTORIC SCOTLAND PROPERTIES states that there are NO dogs allowed on any of the grounds at Elcho Castle.

The Historic environment scotland website says that only assistance dogs are allowed. I assume that to be guide dogs and hearing dogs etc.

The castle is open during the summer months only. It's open daily, but seems to close for lunch most days. When we were there, lunch was 1-2pm. You can wander round the grounds while it's closed though. There are picnic benches and good views of the River Tay.

There's no public transport to the site, and its quite remote from even the nearest village so I'd say no.
